Press release from the issuing company

Wednesday, November 12th, 2014

The St. Joseph’s/Candler Foundations is pleased to announce that the 13th Annual Candler Clays Charity Shoot & Auction, sponsored by the Rives E. Worrell Company (a JE Dunn Construction Company), will take place on Friday and Saturday, February 20-21, 2015.

This year’s event is dedicated to the memory of The Honorable Charles B. Mikell, Jr., former Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and patient at the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion until his death last year due to complications of multiple myeloma.

Candler Clays is an annual fundraiser benefitting advancements in cancer care at the Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion as a part of the Foundation’s three-year initiative, Advancing Excellence: Touching Lives. Participation and sponsorship in the event helps provide cancer patients access to clinical trials, research programs and technologically advanced equipment so they don’t have to travel for the latest cancer treatment.

The Friday night reception and auction will be hosted at the Savannah Golf Club and the Sporting Clays Tournament will take place Saturday at Forest City Gun Club.

Throughout its history, Candler Clays has proved to be incredibly successful in furthering the St. Joseph’s/Candler mission. Last year our participants and sponsors helped raise a record $110,000. Shooters and guests came from all over the region.

“The Rives E. Worrell Company (a JE Dunn Construction Company) has been a longtime supporter of community initiatives, and we’re fortunate to have their partnership for the third year in a row as our title sponsor for Candler Clays,” said Jeremy Summerell, AVP, Branch Manager at Ameris Bank and the event’s co-chair.

Co-chair Ed Hissam, Business Development Manager at J.T. Turner Construction, added, “We are off to a great start with the addition of Brennan, Wasden & Painter LLC at the gold level.  Sponsorships are going fast and we are looking forward to another sold-out event!”
