Telfair Museums presents a special screening of Michael Jordan’s documentary film, “Savannah in the Civil War,” in the Jepson Center auditorium at 6 pm on Thursday, December 11, 2014. This award-winning film features thirty local actors, more than a dozen historians, and numerous Savannah-area historical sites and battlegrounds, revealing the famous and little-known events and stories that took place in our city 150 years ago.

From Secession to Sherman’s “March to the Sea,” Savannah was the setting of countless scenes in our nation’s bloodiest conflict. The stories told in the film include new types of warships, battles on land and sea, black Savannahians fighting for their freedom, Union prisoners attempting to escape, and white Southerners mourning the loss of six Sunday school classmates in the first battle of the war.

After the screening, Savannah’s premier historical filmmaker, Michael Jordan, will participate in Q&A discussion. Telfair Museums will display a bronze sculpture created by artist David Richards in 1879 of the figure on Savannah’s Confederate monument.

The movie is 90 minutes long and free for Telfair members or $12 for non-members.
