Chatham Area Transit (CAT) has formed a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) to work with its Board of Directors and staff with the goal of increasing public input in improving public transit services to the business community across the Savannah/Chatham area. The advisory body committee members have also been recently named. They are: Charles Bowen, William Gettis, Monifa Johnson, Trudy Jones, Ruel Joyner, Ronald McGee and Jacquelyn Sumpter. Bowen, a local business attorney, was selected as committee Chairman and Johnson was selected as Vice Chair.

“On behalf of the Business Advisory Committee, I would like to invite local business owners and other members of the community to contact me with suggestions for improvement in our public transportation system, particularly as it relates to businesses and employers,” said Bowen. “We want to be the sounding board for innovative practices and ideas on how CAT may improve its relationship with and services to the local business community.”

The BAC will be providing input to CAT on transportation-related projects and programs while providing ambassadorship to residents on all things related to public transportation, focusing its objectives in six key areas: customers, ethics, advocacy, quality improvement, safety and employees. The Committee will also serve as a community resource, striving to educate the public about and to promote the acceptance and use of the transit system.
