The YMCA of Coastal Georgia launched its Annual Campaign this past Friday, January 23RD at all ten of the Association’s YMCA locations. This campaign raises funds to ensure that everyone in Coastal Georgia has access to vital community programs and resources that support youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
Every day, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia works to support the people and neighborhoods that need it most by addressing community issues, such as school readiness, chronic diseases and food insecurity.
“Throughout Coastal Georgia, countless people know the Y. But there’s so much more to our Y than one might think”, said Joel Smoker, Chief Operating Officer, YMCA of Coastal Georgia. “The Y is more than a gym. It’s a cause. As a charity, we’re dedicated to nurturing the potential of every child and teen, improving the nation’s health and well-being, and giving back and providing support to our neighbors.”
This year, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia hopes to raise $692,000.00. Funds raised will support a parent with after school care, enroll a pre-diabetic in the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program, provide a child with swim lessons and give an individual the chance to live a healthier life. These are just a few of the many ways your gift can make a significant impact in someone’s life.
This year’s campaign theme is “Tag You’re It”. The idea is to encourage the community to play this “game” to help make a change in the community. Once a person has made their donation to the Y’s campaign, they can then “tag” someone else to do the same.
Last year, charitable gifts from YMCA donors made it possible for thousands of kids to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; for countless families to reconnect and grow together; and many people access to education and training to reach their full potential.
