Urban Hope, a local nonprofit organization founded to benefit Savannah’s inner-city and at-risk children, will host its 5th annual “Taste of Hope – Chefs & Chocolates” fundraiser on Friday, February 20th at the Charles Morris Center. The event will bring together four different chefs, each one delighting the attendees with a tasting of their culinary talents. The participating chefs and restaurants are Chef Nick Mueller and Company, Pacci Italian Kitchen + Bar, and B. Tillman.
There will also be an assortment of chocolates for guests to indulge in. Byrd Cookie Company will have their famous cookies available at a cookie bar and Smallcakes and River Street Sweets will be providing edible centerpieces that will adorn the guests' tables as they listen to the live music by Velvet Caravan.
"There will be no shortage of delicious food or chocolate desserts," explains Cassie Beckwith, Urban Hope Board Chair. "This event has grown each year and we are so appreciative of the chefs, bakers, sponsors and Velvet Caravan for helping us make this 5th anniversary extra special."
Urban Hope was founded by John "Jack" Roszkowiak with his passion and dedication to shaping the lives of at risk children. He created the free after school program by simply sitting in local parks telling children about this "alternative to the streets". The program has been serving children and their families for 14 years while aiming to empower all of Savannah's youth with the education, love and hope they need to be a better citizen and in turn creating a better community.
“United Community Bank is honored to be a sponsor for Urban Hope's Chefs and Chocolates event," said Gene Gibson, Coastal Region President. "As a bank dedicated to serving our community, we feel that supporting Urban Hope and at-risk and inner-city children benefits our community as a whole. This event will raise over $25,000 to provide funding for Urban Hope's free after school program and summer camp. Empowering youth, inspiring community, and enriching lives are a common mission that Urban Hope and United Community Bank share.”
The community is encouraged to attend the Chefs and Chocolates event. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit http://www.urbanhopesavannah.org/#!chefsandchocolates/cjet
