MHUP, Rehabilitation Institute Open House in Pooler

5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 101 West Mulberry Blvd., Pooler

Memorial Health University Physicians (MHUP) -- Memorial Medical Associates at Pooler and MHUP -- Provident OB/GYN Associates at Pooler, along with The Rehabilitation Institute at Memorial University Medical Center’s outpatient services, will host an open house and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, February 3, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Please stop by and meet the physicians and therapists, tour the facility, and enjoy some refreshments.

 

Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors

6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor of the Memorial Outpatient and Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center

These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and people currently receiving treatment. The classes help expand flexibility and balance while providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. Bariatric Surgery Information Session

Prepared Childbirth Class, Wednesday Series

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesdays, February 4, 11, 18, and 25, Memorial University Medical Center

This course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. Affordable Care Act Enrollment Assistance

Get help enrolling in health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Right from the Start Medicaid, and/or PeachCare for Kids. To avoid tax penalties, you must enroll in the ACA by February 15. Advance appointments are required for the GenerationOne session. You can request an appointment by calling 912-350-0317. Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma Support Group

This education and support group is for individuals with blood-related cancers and their loved ones. Each month the group focuses on a specific topic related to these types of illnesses and on improving quality of life. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Series

Tricia Richardson, R.N., LMT, leads this series for cancer survivors and people living with chronic disease. Learn deep relaxation, breathing, and gentle movement techniques to develop mindfulness, reduce stress, and enhance well-being. Through meditation, body awareness, Qigong, and gentle yoga, participants learn to draw from their inner strength for healing and living fully. Head and Neck Cancer Support Group – Understanding the Healing Benefits of Massage Therapy

Basic Breastfeeding Class

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 24, Memorial University Medical Center

This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
