The Richmond Hill Historical Society and Museum recently hired Roy Hubbard as its museum manager. In that role, he will act as part-time tour guide and caretaker of the membership-based, non-profit organization.

Hubbard is currently the owner and operator of Salty Dawg Adventures, a company conducting nature tours to Georgia’s barrier islands. He also owned Live Oak Kennels, a pet supply, grooming and boarding facility in Savannah, and was a field representative for Crane Carrier Corporation.

Hubbard, who retired from the U.S. Army Airborne Special Forces, attended Northwestern University and is a UGA Certified Master Coastal Naturalist. He has lived in Richmond Hill for the past 13 years.

“The Richmond Hill Historical Society and Museum has a mission to inspire and educate people on our city’s richly diverse past,” Hubbard said. “I invite everyone to join me at the museum in discovering and understanding our history. As Winston Churchill once said, ‘The farther backward you can look, the further forward you are likely to see.’”

The Richmond Hill Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
