On Friday, February 20 at an event held at the American Legion Ballroom, Barbara Ruddy and Ross Kaminsky received the 2015 One Small Voice award presented by the Savannah Children’s Choir.
“This is the 9th annual award given by the Savannah Children’s Choir, “ explains Roger Moss, SCC co-founder and Director of Development. “While we’re busy accomplishing our mission of uniting Savannah’s children through the power of song, we also recognize there are others in our community who are also doing great work to promote the arts and children’s issues,” he continued.
Designed to sing the praises of unsung heroes, prior winners have founded schools and dental clinics, supported the arts through their tireless energy and philanthropy, and more.
This year’s honorees, Barbara Ruddy and Ross Kaminsky, have similarly impressive resumes.
Kaminsky is known for his work with and support of Hospice Savannah’s Camp Aloha, a grief camp for children who have lost love ones. He’s also involved with Next Generation, an organization founded to benefit the Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center, as well as CASA, the court appointed special advocate program which supports abused or neglected children in the courts system.
Ruddy serves on numerous local boards, including the Downtown Business Association, the Savannah Music Festival and America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. Ruddy is a tireless advocate and supporter of causes she believes in, particularly as they relate to the arts and children.
The event, which was sponsored by Wet Willies, Hunter Maclean, Queensborough Bank and Austin Hill Realty, and host committee sponsors Lady Bamford, Mary & Howard Morrison and Johnathon Barrett included a special performance by the Savannah Children’s Choir and entertainment by Missionary Blues.
