At the Georgia Jaycees State Convention held in Athens earlier this month, the Savannah Jaycees was awarded Outstanding Chapter of the Year. Previous president, Sarah Westberry was also recognized as Member of the Year. Both awards were presented by 2014 Georgia Jaycees President Josh Melton.
Westberry said, “It was such an honor to receive Jaycee of the Year award. I would have never received it without the support and dedication of the members of our organization. The Jaycees has brought such joy and compassion to my life. I am truly grateful to be involved in our community and for the friends I have made from the Jaycees.”
Current president of the Savannah Jaycees, Randi Hempel said, “I was thrilled to accept the award on behalf of the Savannah Jaycees. I couldn’t be more proud of all of our members and the amount of time and dedication they have all put into rebuilding the Savannah Jaycees. Sarah Westberry had an amazing vision and leadership that allowed me to step into the position this year to further lead our efforts of rebuilding and in making a difference in our community.”
At the convention, Hempel and Westberry were asked to speak on a panel about how the chapter worked to grow their membership to 55 individuals after from the few people they had previously.
