The Savannah Jaycees announces Michael Weathers as the third speaker in the 2015 Leadership NOW Lecture Series to present on Tuesday, March 3 at the Savannah Jaycees headquarters, located at 101 Atlas Street. Open networking begins at 5:30 p.m. and the program will run from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Weathers is the new Executive Director of the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity in Savannah, starting his new role on October 22, 2014. Weathers came to Savannah from South Bend, IN where he most recently was the Director of Family Services for the Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County affiliate. He also has extensive experience in fundraising, counseling, recruiting, management and coaching.

Weathers said, ”Working in the non-profit community is something that allows me to see the changes with the families and their children. There is no better feeling when you empower a family to live in safe, affordable housing and show them the path to being successful. For a lot of families, they just need a chance. Habitat allows them to learn, grow and participate in building their future and that of the community.”

He attended Suomi College (now Finlandia University), Michigan State University, Wake Forest University and the University of St. Thomas and has his BS in Business Administration and Education, his MA in Catechetical Studies and his LLA in Business Law.

“We are excited to have Michael Weathers speak to the Savannah Jaycees about what he is doing with Coastal Empire Habitat For Humanity. There is such a need our community for what Habitat For Humanity does. I’m excited for our membership and guests to learn how they can make a difference for our neighbors," said president, Randi Hempel, "The Jaycee Creed ends with ‘Service to humanity is the best work of life.’ We’ve come together to do something greater than us. Learning how we can get involved with Habitat for Humanity; whether working together to build a house, donating to the Habitat Store, or having the information to pass on, we can help make life better for others.”
