Former Southern Company Executive Anthony James to Present on Leadership

What: “Leading Well.” Leadership is a critical component of success in today’s diverse and fast paced workplace environment. This seminar will focus on the role leadership plays in addressing the challenges organizations face in remaining globally competitive and attracting and retaining world class talent. Anthony James will share his experiences and together with Ned Ellington from Georgia Tech will stimulate discussion about how leadership development must be relevant and actionable.

Who: Speaker Anthony James retired from Southern Company as an executive vice president and president of the Shared Services Group and he also served as president and CEO of Savannah Electric and Power Company from 2001 through 2005. James was selected as “Black Engineer of the Year” in 2004 and one of the “100 Most Important Blacks in Technology” 2005 through 2008 by U.S. Black Engineer Magazine and Career Communications Group, and is the co-author of the 2005 book The Shoulders of Giants. He serves on Georgia Tech-Savannah’s Advisory Board. 

Moderator Ned Ellington is a former research faculty at Georgia Tech. He has a long history in executive education, having developed and delivered seminars and workshops on the topics of leadership fundamentals, transformation management, innovation management, lean enterprise thinking, leading change and total quality management.
