Outdoor Arts Festival Unites With Savannah Asian Cultural Festival on March 28th

Press release from the issuing company

Friday, March 27th, 2015

In conjunction with the Savannah Asian Cultural Festival this year, the Armstrong State University Department of Art, Music & Theatre (Armstrong AMT) is pleased to present its annual Outdoor Arts Festival on Saturday March 28th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the courtyard outside Armstrong’s Fine Arts Hall.

OAF is a colorful one-day event filled with fun art, music, theatre, and dance activities for the entire family ranging from puppetry to face painting, dynamic story enactments to scarf-juggling coordination challenges and mind-bending improvisational games.

Armstrong music students will show kids how to experiment with sounds on various musical instruments. Art students will have art activities sure to inspire any creative young person. Various Savannah middle school, high school, and college performing groups will be found on stage throughout the day.

Speaking to the new collaboration, OAF director Tom Cato, Ed.D. said "this year we have the unique opportunity to feature Asian-inspired arts activities and performances within the traditional model of our festival as we begin this shared-venue arrangement with the Savannah Asian Cultural Festival in its first-ever visit to our beautiful Armstrong campus."

This new collaboration is one that could reap material benefits for both festivals and also for anyone who attends, according to Cato. "Those who have enjoyed either of these great events now have the extraordinary opportunity to go to both on the same day. It's really two festivals in one, or side-by-side, creating an exciting day of music and dance, art and drama, very much with a far-Eastern spin."

Children of all ages are encouraged to enjoy this fun-filled day so mark it on your calendar. For those who want to make a full day of the event, food and soft drinks are available for purchase.

Admission to the Outdoor Art Arts Festival is FREE of charge.
Activities and performances are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Fine Arts Hall Courtyard.

Rain or Shine! In case of rain, activities will be held inside Fine Arts Hall.
