Who: Senior Citizens, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to helping people age successfully.
What: SCI’s March for Meals. Mayor Edna Jackson will lead SCI’s March for Meals Celebration on Tuesday, March 31 at 10 a.m., and personally deliver the first Meals On Wheels of the day to two seniors in Savannah. This is the 13th Annual March for Meals campaign, a nationwide celebration of local Meals on Wheels programs throughout the month of March, which helps raise awareness for this critical service. Each week, SCI prepares more than 3,500 home-delivered meals and an additional 7,000 meals to sites in Chatham, Effingham, Bryan, and Liberty counties. Many times, the Meals on Wheels volunteer or staff driver is the only person a senior will see each day. Georgia is the sixth worst state in the nation for hunger among the senior population.
All media are invited to attend the kick off at SCI and join the Mayor as she makes her Meals on Wheels deliveries.
