The College of Business Administration at Savannah State University has maintained the accreditation of its programs by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, International, a specialized agency that accredits business and accounting degree programs worldwide.

COBA first earned its AACSB accreditation in 2005, following an extensive review process that included self-evaluation by the SSU business faculty and a site visit by a peer review team of deans from business schools already accredited. To maintain its accreditation, COBA underwent a rigorous review process that included a continuous improvement report and a site visit by a peer review team of deans for other AACSB accredited business schools.

Through this process, COBA has demonstrated its continued commitment to AACSB’s 15 quality standards relating to strategic management and innovation, participants (students, faculty, and professional staff), learning and teaching, and academic and professional engagement.  The college also had to show a commitment to continuous improvement and achievement of learning goals in degree programs.

COBA’s programs include a bachelor’s of business in accounting, management, marketing, global logistics and international business, and computer information systems. A master’s degree in business administration is also offered. Accreditation has been extended for five years, with the next continuous improvement review occurring in 2019/2020 academic year, in accordance with AACSB policy.

“AACSB accreditation is a globally recognized standard for the highest-quality in business education.  Currently, less than 5 percent of business schools worldwide are AACSB accredited,” said Mostafa Sarhan, dean of COBA. “These schools have the highest quality faculty, relevant and challenging curriculum, and excellent educational and career opportunities.”

Headquartered in Tampa, Fla., AACSB International is a not-for-profit organization with more than 1,400 members, including business schools and businesses in 90 countries and territories.
