The Effingham Chamber of Commerce is gearing up to host an Effingham County Job Fair on Wednesday, May 13 from 10am to 2pm at the Effingham College and Career Academy at 2940 Hwy. 21 N., Rincon, GA, (across from Efacec). With 20 employers signed up already, this will be the largest Job Fair presented by the Effingham Chamber. Chamber Director, Rick Lott, said there were over 300 attending last year’s job fair.

Employers from across the county will be on hand to take resumes and offer information about their companies and their employment needs. Applicants should come dressed for success and bring their resumes, a pen, and a desire to work. Sue Koopmann and Dr. Barbara Prosser, Co-Chairs of the Chamber’s Workforce Development Committee, said, “Every day nearly 75% of Effingham County’s workforce leaves the county to go to their jobs. With so many of our own Effingham-based industries and companies needing new employees, we would love to see more of our local workforce be able to stay and work right here in the county!”

“We feel the Job Fair will be a great way for local industries and businesses to share information about their companies and potential job opportunities”, added Sue Koopmann.

John Henry, CEO of the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority, who also serves on this committee, said, “This is a great opportunity to showcase our employers to those in the community that might not be aware of the jobs available right here in Effingham County and the surrounding area. Connecting our citizens with employment information is a great way to help both our existing industries and our labor force.”

Some of the companies already making plans to be part of this Job Fair are Georgia-Pacific, Georgia Power, CST Covers, Effingham County Schools, Effingham Health System, Edwards Interiors, Savannah Technical College, Effingham County, Parkers Convenience Stores, Coastal Workforce Development Services, Walgreen’s, Preferred Materials, Hester Business Solutions, Atlantic Waste, HR Block, Troy University, Savannah Electrical, JATC, Allgood Pest Control, 165th Air National Guard,  Sweet Tea Grille, and Savannah’s Candy Kitchen.
