EMC Engineering Announces Promotion, New Hire

EMC Engineering Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Alec B. Metzger, P.E. to Branch Manager of our corporate office in Savannah, GA. Upon his graduation from the University of Georgia in 1999, Mr. Metzger joined the staff of EMC’s corporate office in Savannah as a design engineer. In 2005, Alec obtained his registration as a professional civil engineer and was invited to become an Associate Owner in the firm. Mr. Metzger holds dual registration in Georgia and South Carolina and is a GSWCC Level II Certified Erosion Control Design Professional. From 2012 to present, he served as Branch Manager of EMC’s office located in Statesboro, GA. Alec also serves on EMC’s Board of Directors. During his tenure with the firm, Mr. Metzger’s responsibilities have included engineering design, plan development, and project management for various land development projects. His experience includes work on various residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal projects. He lives in Springfield, Georgia with his wife Cindy and two children, Graham and Riley.
EMC Engineering Services, Inc. is pleased to announce the hiring of Thomas W. Hurley, RLS as the Survey Manager of our corporate office in Savannah. Mr. Hurley graduated from the University of Georgia in 1980 with a degree in Forest Resources and Timber Management. Mr. Hurley has held positions including Project Manager, District Surveyor, and Right of Way and Mapping Director for various firms in Atlanta. He has previously worked as the Atlanta Survey Manager for EMC Engineering. Mr. Hurley holds registrations as a professional land surveyor in Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. He is the past President and current Director of the Surveying and Mapping Society of Georgia (SAMSOG). During his tenure in the surveying field, Mr. Hurley has performed right of way and utility mapping for the Atlanta Street Car project and the Charlotte North Carolina Street Car project. Locally, he has worked on the Jimmy DeLoach Parkway and Islands Expressway. Mr. Hurley is originally from Macon, but he now resides in Savannah with his wife Laura. Mr. Hurley has one son, Tommy Jr., who lives in Atlanta.
