Greenline Architecture, Inc., and its residential extension, Homeline Architecture, won three 2015 Historic Savannah Foundation Preservation Awards in recognition of the firm’s contributions to and outstanding excellence in historic preservation in Savannah and Chatham County. The firm’s winning projects included the Philbrick-Eastman House, 219 East Gaston Street and 1301 Lincoln Street.
The Philbrick-Eastman House, originally built in 1844 and located at 17 West McDonough Street, involved the renovation of the iconic 12,000 square foot Greek Revival mansion on Chippewa Square to accommodate The Parker Companies new corporate offices. The project captured the spirit of evolution in one of the Historic District’s most prominent buildings by preserving the property’s historic, character defining features while paying reverence to its second use as an office environment. Additional project partners included The Parker Companies and Kuhn Construction Company.
Greenline also received recognition for the renovation of 219 East Gaston Street, completed under its residential extension, Homeline Architecture, which involved the renovation of an Italianate row home built in 1876. The rehabilitation returned historic integrity, charm and character to the property, which had remained virtually unimproved until the current renovation. All work was performed to Department of Natural Resources Standards for Rehabilitation and involved extensive work to both interior and exterior features. Kuhn Construction Company served as the project’s contractor.
In addition, HSF recognized Greenline for its contributions to the preservation of 1301 Lincoln Street, a circa 1925 Standard Oil Company gas station restored and remodeled under the guidance of Ellsworth-Hallett Home Professionals, who now occupy the space along with the Savannah Bicycle Campaign.
