River's End Celebration for Paddle Georgia Participants

Press release from the issuing company

Thursday, May 7th, 2015

The Georgia River Network’s 2015 Paddle Georgia journey will end Friday June 26 in spirited style at Savannah’s own Love’s Seafood and Steaks – on the banks of the Ogeechee River.

The Ogeechee Riverkeeper is host to Paddle Georgia 2015, which concludes on June 26 after paddlers in canoes and kayaks have spent a week exploring the waterway, one of Coastal Georgia’s most prized natural resources.  After starting on June 20 and logging 95 miles through Bulloch, Screven, Effingham, Chatham and Bryan counties – navigating swampy bottomlands, tidal marches, deadfalls and narrow, braided channels – participants will wrap up their adventure just outside Richmond Hill with a lively party.

Fresh from the Ogeechee, River’s End Celebration guests will disembark at King’s Ferry between 12noon-5pm and kick up their heels at legendary Love’s, where tables and chairs will be set up beneath a tent on the banks of the majestic blackwater river. Food, music, friends and fun will be the evening’s top priorities. Coastal Empire Beer will sell beer at the soiree and donate proceeds to Ogeechee Riverkeeper, whose mission includes preservation work, advocacy efforts and outreach.

“After a week of taking in the Ogeechee’s breathtaking sites and navigating its twists and turns, we know our Paddle Georgia participants will be ready to take it easy, enjoy good food and music, and squeeze in a little more time visiting with new and old friends before heading home,” said Ogeechee Riverkeeper Emily Markesteyn. “There’s no better place to celebrate our triumphs and recharge than Love’s Seafood, a longtime supporter of Ogeechee Riverkeeper and the waterway itself.”

The public is also welcome to attend the River’s End Celebration and organizers suggest arrival between 2-3pm on June 26 to enjoy music and fellowship.  A low country boil dinner will be available at 6pm for $15 per person along with a cash bar.  For information please visit.www.ogeecheeriverkeeper.org

Paddle Georgia, now in its 11th year, brings together more than 400 outdoor enthusiasts each summer for seven days of exploring one of the state’s chosen waterways. The journey is designed to encourage better river protection, promote recreational use of the natural resources and raise funds.
