Telfair Museums announced today that the Telfair Academy Guild has raised more than $50,000 in the past year. Founded almost 40 years ago, TAG exists to support the goals and activities of Telfair Museums through volunteerism. The proceeds were generated by their events The Art of Great Fashion - Marilyn and Marc: Celebrating American Icons presented in May 2014, and Rooms With a View: Southern Style which featured six local interior designers and nationally acclaimed designers Jim and Phoebe Howard, held in October 2014.
“I am deeply grateful for the commitment, hard work, and ongoing support Telfair Academy Guild members provide to the museum,” said Telfair Museums Director and CEO Lisa Grove. “TAG’s efforts and achievements are essential to the overall success of Telfair.”
The $50,000 will help support the upcoming exhibition, Monet and American Impressionism, which opens October 16, 2015, and the ongoing Mansion to Museum exhibit that highlights the incredible story of the transformation of the Telfair Academy site from a home to an “Academy of Arts and Sciences.”
TAG’s 2015-2016 schedule includes several exciting events, including a brand-new Rooms With A View: Holiday Impressions in December and a brand-new Art in Bloom next April. TAG Board Officers for 2015-2016 are President, Kelly Newberry; Vice-President, Membership, Valerie Stolt; Vice-President, Programs, Meredith Gray; Recording Secretary, Joanne Shapoff; Corresponding Secretary, Cynthia Creighton-Jones; Treasurer, General Operations, Kimberly Good; Treasurer, Special Events, Gail Onken; and Past President, Anne Gardner.
“We invite everyone who is interested to attend a meeting and learn more,” said incoming TAG President Kelly Newberry, “We meet most second Monday’s and have regular TAG at Night meetings for those who can’t always get away from work during the day. Our meetings are both fun and educational and provide many opportunities to interact with the talented Museums’ staff.”
