Armstrong State University recently hired Andrew J. Dies as the new assistant dean of student integrity. In this position, he is responsible for administering Armstrong’s student conduct system, which involves both academic and non-academic violations of the student honor code. In addition, he serves on the university’s behavioral assessment team, working with students in crisis.

Before joining Armstrong, Dies was the associate dean of students and director of student conduct and outreach at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, administering more than 26,000 students. He also chaired the pre-admission safety review committee, determining if applicants to the university would pose a threat to campus property, community or resources, and served as de facto case manager for the campus behavioral intervention team.

Earlier in his career, Dies served as resident director for UNC Charlotte, the Art Institute of Philadelphia and Temple University, where he oversaw day-to-day operations of the housing departments, as well as recruitment and training for supervisors and staff.

At Temple University, Dies was also a member of the crisis response taskforce, assisting in updating the residential life response system and the Project T committee, which implemented a safe zone for different identities, including sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, religion, class and gender expression. He also served as a logistics coordinator for the professional development committee, providing unique opportunities for the division of student affairs.

Dies holds a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University and Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Kansas.
