Savannah-Chatham School Board Awards Spencer Elem. Contract to Rives Worrell

A construction company in the middle of a minority contracting controversy is getting another chance to work on a Savannah-Chatham school. The school board awarded Rives Worrell, and its parent company JE Dunn construction, a $16 million contract to build Spencer Elementary. The award was expected last week but a tie tabled the discussion until today.

The board approved the recommendation in a 6-2-1 vote with board members Connie Hall and Irene Hines voting against the measure. Board member Shawn Kachmar abstained.
