Press release from the issuing company

Tuesday, June 16th, 2015

In celebration of their 10th anniversary season, the Savannah Children’s Choir announces an exciting season full of family-friendly concerts and events for the whole family.

“We’ve titled the season ‘Greatest Hits’,” explains Roger Moss, SCC’s Director of Development and co-founder.  “We’re bringing back some of our most popular guest artists, as well as thinking about ways we can show our appreciation to the Savannah community for their support over the past decade,” he continued.

The season kicks off with the End of Camp concert on Friday, July 24 at 7 p.m. at the Lucas Theater.  This high-energy performance is the public’s first view of the children who will make up the 2015/2016 Savannah Children’s Choir.  Tickets are available at www.savannahboxoffice.com, or by calling (912) 525-5050.

The Vienna Boys Choir, the world’s most celebrated children’s choir, returns on Saturday evening, October 17, 2015 at 7 p.m. for a performance at the Armstrong Fine Arts Auditorium.  Presented by Brasseler USA, tickets are available at www.savannahboxoffice.com, or by calling (912) 525-5050.

SCC Artist in Residence Fikile Mvinjelwa, South Africa’s foremost baritone, will be joined by Guest Artistic Director Keith Miller and friends as they present Night in Savannah on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Lucas Theater.  “This evening of opera features the world’s best and most beloved arias, duets and ensemble pieces, and also features the Savannah Children’s Choir as the opera children’s chorus,” explains Emmy Williams, SCC’s Director of Education and Music.  “The ‘Night’ is our gift to Savannah – by making the ticket prices so affordable, children, parents and grandparents will be able to enjoy this wonderful -- but not usually accessible - art form together as a family,” she continued.  Tickets are available at www.savannahboxoffice.com, or by calling (912) 525-5050.

SCC’s always popular Holiday Concert will be performed at the Lucas Theatre on Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 3 p.m.  This family-friendly concert is one of the nicest ways to start your holiday season off on the right note.  Tickets are available at www.savannahboxoffice.com, or by calling (912) 525-5050.

One Small Voice, the SCC’s annual award singing the praises of unsung heroes, will honor the congregation of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for their outstanding work incubating a number of organizations that have helped children and families throughout the region. The ceremony, held Friday, February 19, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at the American Legion on Bull Street will feature a special musical tribute by the Savannah Children’s Choir, and a cocktail reception with entertainment by Missionary Blues.

The SCC’s Spring Concert, held on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, is a way to treat your mother to a wonderful cultural event.  The concert also offers a brief tribute to the SCC’s graduating 8th graders. Tickets will be available at www.savannahboxoffice.com, or by calling (912) 525-5050.

The Savannah Children’s Choir is also looking forward to two collaborations with the Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra.  The first, performing Vivaldi’s Gloria as part of An Evening of Baroque: Handel, Bach & Vivaldi, takes place Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Lucas Theatre.  The second, performing as special guests for the Holiday Pops Family Matinee, is on Saturday, December 12, 2015, also at the Lucas Theatre.  Tickets for both these events are available at www.savannahboxoffice.com, or by calling (912) 525-5050.

The Preparatory Choir will travel to Asheville, North Carolina May 13-15, 2016, and the Premier Choir will travel to Ireland June 7-14, 2016.  The children will have a number of fundraisers to help raise needed funds for their trips, including Program Book ad sales, and two Spaghetti Suppers, currently scheduled for November 30 (the Monday after Thanksgiving) and March 7.  Check out the SCC’s website, www.savannahchoir.org for details and times.

As part of the Ireland trip, the SCC will offer a special Partner Tour for friends, families and SCC supporters.  The tour will intersect with the children at concert times, but offers a number of unique features including special tours and tastings.  For more detailed information, contact the SCC at [email protected].

New this year the SCC will host a Friends, Family & Alumni featuring music, food trucks and a 1M/5K fun walk or run on Sunday, November 22 in Daffin Park.  Visit www.savannahchoir.org for more details.
