Yoga for Cancer Patients and Survivors
6:30 p.m., Tuesdays, and 12:45 p.m., Thursdays, FitnessOne, 3rd floor, Memorial Outpatient and Wellness Center, Memorial University Medical Center
These weekly yoga classes are free for cancer survivors and those in treatment. The classes help expand flexibility and balance while also providing relaxation. The instructor is Yoga Alliance registered with more than 200 hours of training, including specialized yoga training for cancer survivors at OM Yoga in New York. Prostate Cancer Support Group: Man to Man
6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 8, in the Conference Room of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center
This group is for men who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and their caregivers. The group provides a variety of educational and support programs. Each session includes time to share resources and ask questions of other survivors and caregivers. For more information, call 912-897-3933.

Connect For Kids

Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Multiple Myeloma Support Group
5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday, July 9, Summit Cancer Care office, Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center
This education and support group is for individuals with blood-related cancers and their loved ones. Each month the group focuses on a specific topic related to these types of illnesses and on improving quality of life. To reserve your space, please call 912-350-7845.

Labor and Delivery Tour

Greater Savannah Breast Cancer Support Group
5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, July 12, Conference Room of the Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center
Breast cancer patients and their caregivers in the greater Savannah, Hilton Head, and coastal Georgia area are invited to join this group. Head and Neck Cancer Support Group
2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 15, Conference Room, Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial University Medical Center

The Center for Behavioral Medicine Movie Night

The public is invited to The Center for Behavioral Medicine’s quarterly movie night. These popular films all have a psychiatric theme. A brief discussion will be held at the conclusion of the film. Prepared Childbirth Saturday Session
9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, July 18, Memorial University Medical Center
This full-day course gives an overview of reproductive anatomy and physiology and explains the process of labor and delivery in simple, easy-to-understand terms. It is designed for parents who live outside of Savannah or have schedules that make it difficult to attend weekday classes. This course includes a tour of the labor and delivery unit. Heal in Style /Cancer Survivor Celebration

The Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute at Memorial Health University Medical Center will host a free day of pampering for cancer survivors and their caregivers on Sunday, July 19. The Heal in Style Celebration will include massages, makeovers, manicures, pedicures, scarf demonstrations, and specialty gift bags. Beauty professionals from local salons such as Brandy George, B Street Salon, Glo Medical Spa, and international hair and makeup artist, Loren Laney, former chief stylist for Elle magazine, will donate their time to provide free services for cancer survivors and one of their caregivers. Basic Breastfeeding Class
6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 28, Memorial University Medical Center
This two-hour session is designed to educate and support the mother planning to breastfeed. Topics include preparing to breastfeed, basic breastfeeding concepts, nutrition, and a discussion of common concerns. Issues such as family support for the breastfeeding mother, the father’s role in feeding, and how to breastfeed and continue to work are also covered. Your support person is encouraged to attend.
