Tybee Island Mulling Public Booze Restrictions

Tybee Island may have more than a bit of a drinking problem.

Reports requested by the Savannah Morning News indicate alcohol was a factor in nearly 75 percent of arrests made by Tybee police so far this year. Alcohol also was linked to about 40 percent of the 2,500-plus citations issued on the island through July.

And there have been more than 160 drunken-driving arrests.
