Coastal Solar to Make First Appearance at 40th Annual Vidalia Onion Festival April 27th–30th
Friday, March 17th, 2017
There will be solar at the Vidalia Onion Festival. There will also be three very happy prize winners.
The 40th Annual festival is looking like the best one ever, with a great variety of activities and fun for all ages and all types of people. Air shows, fireworks, street dancing, music, cooking, onion eating contests, and more – April 27 – 30th is shaping up to be the best weekend of 2017.
But this year, there’s one more reason to show up in addition to all the other fun. Coastal Solar, a Georgia-based solar panel installation company, will be making their first ever appearance at the festival. With a strong emphasis in agricultural solar, especially poultry farms, in addition to commercial and residential, Coastal Solar has grown in each year since its founding, creating jobs and saving people lots of money on their power bills.
Clay Sikes, CEO of Coastal Solar, talked about why he decided his company should make an appearance at the festival this year:
“We’ve been installing solar on poultry farms, businesses, and houses all over the area, and we thought this was a way to introduce ourselves to the greater community,” says Sikes.
But that’s not the only reason Coastal Solar will be at the Festival this year. After all, they need to give people something to do. How can a solar company lure people away from all the food, music, and fun activities, even for a few minutes?
There are two ways to participate with Coastal Solar at the onion festival.
First, they’re holding their first ever sweepstakes giveaway. It’s called the 12 Month Power Bills sweepstakes. There will be over $10,000 in prizes. All you have to do is submit your last twelve months of power bills, and you’ll be entered in a drawing. Prizes include Benelli shotguns and Bahamas cruises.

The drawing will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, April 30th, the last day of the festival.
Second, Coastal Solar will be unveiling what they’re calling “The Unit.” The simplest way to describe The Unit is like a mobile solar device that is affixed to a flatbed. Its purpose is to power irrigation equipment. If you drop by Coastal Solar’s exhibit at the Onion Festival, you’ll be one of the first people to see The Unit in person.
As springtime outdoor activities go, the 40th Annual Vidalia Onion Festival is a can’t-miss event. And with Coastal Solar’s participation this year, you can see some new technology, and possibly walk away with some pretty cool prizes.
