Savannah Facing Increased Recycling Costs as Contract nears Expiration

When the city was preparing to implement curbside recycling in 2008, the Savannah City Council at the time had a choice between a 10-year and 20-year contract for the service. A majority of the council ended up selecting the 10-year agreement due to concerns about the longer commitment. Now as that contract is set to expire at the end of next month, the decision will come at a cost going into the future.
