Coastal Care Partners Provides Much Needed Services to Those 65 and Older as Georgia and South Carolina Re-open Some Service Sectors

As Georgia and South Carolina begin re-opening some service sectors, government guidelines state that adults 65 and older and vulnerable individuals should continue to shelter in place.
Older adults may need additional assistance. Locally-owned aging services company Coastal Care Partners is helping older adults with a variety of needs, from navigating telemedicine and virtual doctor’s appointments to medical supplies, shopping for groceries, managing medications, crisis intervention, and more. Based in Savannah, GA, Coastal Care Partners serves the Greater Savannah area as well as Bluffton and Hilton Head Island, SC.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many older adults are staying home and following CDC recommendations, which is the right thing to do,” Amy Pierce, co-owner of Coastal Care Partners said. Pierce is a registered nurse and certified care manager who knows the challenges that the aging population faces.
“Our nurse care managers are helping older adults to stay home and out of physician offices by helping with virtual appointments and other concerns,” Pierce noted. “Medicare is helping physicians by allowing additional services to be covered by Telehealth. We are helping our clients schedule and manage Telehealth and we can be with them during the virtual appointment as well as help to ensure physician instructions are followed, manage medications, and other priorities. In addition, our Care Companions provide additional support such as running errands, shopping for groceries and visiting clients.”
Pierce added that “we all need to work together to protect the capacity of our health care system so that medical facilities do not become overwhelmed. Our team is mobile, so we come to you when you need us. When the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us, we will continue to offer these services, as we did before. We are here to help the aging population with quality care. That is our priority.”
