Savannah State University’s (SSU) College of Business Administration (COBA) programs have been reaffirmed by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, a specialized agency that accredits business and accounting degree programs worldwide.
“Extension of the AACSB accreditation is indicative of the hard work and dedication put forth to ensure our College of Business Administration employs the finest and most dedicated faculty and staff who are devoted to the success of our students,” said Kimberly Ballard-Washington, interim president of SSU. “The AACSB stamp of approval signals that our students have received a challenging, relevant education and they are well prepared to lead in today’s global business environment.”
The accreditation process is a rigorous system that ensures business schools are delivering the best in business education.COBA first earned AACSB accreditation in 2005 following an extensive review process that included self-evaluation by the business faculty and a site visit by a peer review team of deans from accredited business schools.
Every five years, AACSB conducts an accreditation review, which includes a continuous improvement report and a site visit by a peer review team. Through the review process, COBA has demonstrated its continued commitment to AACSB’s 15 quality standards that focus on mission and strategic management; support for students, faculty and staff; learning and teaching; and academic and professional engagement of students and faculty. Accreditation has been extended for five years, with the next continuous improvement review occurring in the 2024-2025 academic year, in accordance with AACSB policy.
COBA’s programs include the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in accounting, computer information systems, global logistics and international business, management and marketing. The BBA in management includes an online option, which allows students to complete all core and major courses online as well as use College Level Examination Program credits, military and/or life experience, and departmental exams to complete degree requirements. The Master of Business Administration degree is also offered.
“COBA is honored to be among the 5% of business schools, globally, to be accredited by the AACSB. COBA offers affordable access to programs that have earned the gold standard in business education accreditation, giving our students and graduates a competitive edge with recruiters,” said Sudesh Mujumdar, Ph.D., dean of COBA.
With offices in Tampa, Fla., Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Singapore, AACSB, a global organization, provides services to more than 1,700 member organizations and more than 840 accredited business schools worldwide.
