Monday, June 29th, 2020
The Georgia Southern University Foundation, Inc. has received a commitment of $125,000, the largest gift yet toward the “Ensure Our Eagles Finish Strong” scholarship initiative to help students facing financial hardships during these unprecedented times. The campaign will help up to 250 students on a need-based priority and up to 14 returning spring sport seniors who saw their 2019-20 collegiate seasons cut short.
Alumni RT (‘12) and Brianna (‘12) Evans together with Richard T. (Tim) and EJ Evans are supporting Georgia Southern students in need. Tim and RT are executive team members of Evans General Contractors, a leading design and build, general contracting and construction management firm that specializes in facilities across the United States. The company is headquartered in Atlanta with a local office in Savannah.
“Helping students achieve their goals is our top priority," said Tim Evans, president and CEO of Evans General Contractors. "Helping to provide for their needs is essential to ensure they are able to rise above the uncertainty they are facing at this time. At Evans General Contractors it is our philosophy and mission to give back to the communities that helped build the company we are today.”
Scholarships through this initiative help to ensure Georgia Southern students are able to stay enrolled and complete their degrees. The “Ensure Our Eagles Finish Strong” campaign goal is $250,000 in addition to $140,000 to assist the student-athletes.
“The Evans family’s commitment is an incredible push toward this initiative’s fundraising efforts to support students when they need it most,” said Michael R. Sanders, Foundation president. “As we work to involve 500 donors in this campaign, this gift challenges others to join the Evans family to help ensure these students are successful in completing their degrees.”
“Ensure Our Eagles Finish Strong” was launched on May 18 and will run through July 2. For more information on “Ensure Our Eagles Finish Strong” or to give online, visit GeorgiaSouthern.edu/
