Thomas & Hutton congratulates J. Michael “Mike” Barnes, PE, LEED AP on being selected for the 2020-2021 Construction Professionals Network (CPN) of North Carolina and Construction Professionals Network Institute (CPNI) Board of Directors. Mike will also serve as the Chair of CPN’s membership committee. 

CPN represents and facilitates connections between professionals, business owners, and public officials in roles related to the design and construction industries through statewide membership meetings, continuing education, socials, regional programming, projects, and scholarship opportunities. CPNI is a non-profit initiative founded by CPN that expands their mission of service to the construction industry by aiding communities throughout North Carolina. As a Board Director, Mike will help engage and oversee CPN of NC and CPNI’s network as a trusted source for information, advice, and services, while enhancing opportunities for improving business.

Mike Barnes is a Principal and serves as Regional Director and Civil Manager for Thomas & Hutton’s Charlotte office. Barnes joined Thomas & Hutton in 2016 with the opening of our Charlotte office, bringing over twenty years of experience in project management for site development, water and wastewater, as well as management of institutional and commercial projects for both public and private entities throughout North Carolina. A licensed Professional Engineer and certified LEED Accredited Professional, Mike holds both a Master and Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from North Carolina State University. In addition to his positions with CPN of NC, Mike is a former member of the Board of Directors for Leadership North Carolina and Board Advisor level member of the Charlotte Chamber.
