YMCA’s Fresh Express Program Brings Fresh Produce to the Moses Jackson Advancement Center
Friday, July 17th, 2020
The YMCA of Coastal Georgia is proud to announce a new West Side distribution site for their program, Fresh Express, at the Moses Jackson Advancement Center. Fresh Express is a free monthly produce distribution program in communities where access to fresh foods is extremely limited.
Since its launch in 2016, the YMCA’s Fresh Express program has distributed just over 32,000 pounds of fresh food to an average of 200 people a month in Savannah.
The Moses Jackson Advancement Center provides central access for the Savannah west side community. In a community with limited availability of fresh foods, Fresh Express will provide a critical service for the residents each month.
“The current climate has made food access difficult for even more of our neighbors,” says Hillary Bradbury, Marketing and Communications Director, REACH Savannah and YMCA of Coastal Georgia. “Moving the west side location to Moses Jackson allows for more residents to participate in the program, by providing a walkable, convenient location.”
The first Fresh Express event at the Moses Jackson Advancement Center, 1410 Richards St., will take place on Friday, July 17th, beginning at 9:30 am until product runs out. Fresh Express is held the third Friday of every month at both the Curtis V. Cooper Primary Health, 106 E. Broad St., and the Moses Jackson Advancement Center at 9:30 am.
The Fresh Express program is supported by funding through the Centers for Disease Control’s REACH (Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health) grant.
