Chances are if poll workers or voters have issues at the polls you call Debbie Rauers. Among voter advocates & activists, Rauers is one person without question in the voter’s corner. The public’s voice on the Chatham County Election Board is Debbie Rauers. A TRUE public advocate.

Rauers is not afraid to speak-up for People. Rauers uses her position to investigate issues. She follows-up with the Secretary of State, State Board of Elections, and local groups. Rauers also follows-up with the public.

She is known to listen. If an issue is outside her purview, she educates herself in Georgia Election laws and employs peers to answer hard questions workers’ raise.

Rauers was present in 2018 to investigate Election Day dilemmas. Rauers recruited more workers to help in the 2018 Run-off. Recently, Rauers investigated the Absentee Ballot Processing, which led to a District 2 recount. She also exposed over 20,000 ballots reprinted in error for District 4 and 7.

As advocate, Rauers works to troubleshoot & reassign workers, and investigates pay. Recently, the Chair’s public statement regarding Rauers previous investigation of worker pay issues, resulted in the Board adopting the County Human Resources to administer pay.The results were greater checks-and-balances for worker pay. Now, workers have additional protections at the local County level.

So, what does censure mean for Rauers?

In the past, Chair & Supervisor attempted to censure once Democratic Board member Tia Brightwell.

The Supervisor & Chair now have the upper hand, and on the community voice for the people.

Censuring Rauers means the entire Board will be held to greater accountability by the public. The Board will have no option to step-up, now Rauers is censured.

One question is not resolved- will the Chair & Supervisor continue deniability for June 9th failures placing blame on Rauers?
