Savannah Speech & Hearing Center Officially Opens New Center

Savannah Speech & Hearing Center, a nonprofit organization committed to providing comprehensive services to children and adults with speech, language, and/or hearing problems in the Savannah area for the past 66 years, officially opened their new center yesterday.   The new state of the art center is located at 5414 Skidaway Road.

Community leaders joined Savannah Speech & Hearing Center board leadership, volunteers, and staff members at the official ribbon cutting.   A special dedication was given to the Hammond Family of Savannah for their many years of support to the center by naming the audiology portion of the center “ The Hammond Center for Hearing Health.”  The new conference room was dedicated to Anne Kolman Smith, who is the current board chair, a long time volunteer, and building committee lead for the project. Smith was also honored at the event as the Center’s “Volunteer of the Year.”

Savannah Speech and Hearing Center is dedicated to providing the best hearing healthcare possible with dedicated and experienced audiologists to evaluate, diagnose, and manage hearing loss and hearing-related disorders. The center provides comprehensive hearing assessments for children and adults followed by recommending and fitting a full range of hearing instruments. The staff’s audiologists are certified cochlear implant audiologists specializing in implants for children and adults as the cochlear implant specialty program for audiology in the area. Additional hearing services include industrial hearing services, hearing aid repair, and hearing aid adjustments. The center offers speech screenings, comprehensive evaluations, and a wide range of treatment options for infants, children, and adults including pediatric occupational therapy and physical therapy. Children have access to speech as never before through the center’s Sound Start preschool developed to take advantage of the latest technology critical to ensuring the children's success.
