SCCPSS Names 2021 Instructional Support Person of the Year

Each year the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System recognizes support staff such as nurses, paraprofessionals, custodians, cafeteria workers, media clerks, counselor clerks, and secretaries. Each school chooses a site-based representative who then competes to be named the District’s Instructional Support Person of the Year.
On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Dr. Ann Levett named the 2021 Instructional Support Person of the Year during the Regular Board Meeting. Melvin Nesbitt, behavior intervention para-educator at Brock Elementary School was named to represent the District for the 2020-21 School Year.
Mr. Nesbitt believes the greatest value of public education is the creation of productive citizens who build strong civil communities. He is known for connecting the community to the school through various outreach projects on a regular basis and is committed to doing all he can to support the educational experience for the whole child. Mr. Nesbitt will now serve on the Superintendent’s Professional Senate, provide updates during monthly School Board Meetings, serve on the ISPY Selection Committee and act as an advocate for the school system.
