Savannah Maritime After Hours gifted a $1,000 donation to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire (RMHC) of the Coastal Empire during Christmas week. This marks the seventh consecutive year sponsors of Savannah Maritime After Hours have made a holiday donation to support the House and its residents. 

The RMHC operates a local thirteen-bedroom house serving as a temporary home for children's families who are receiving treatment at local area hospitals. The organization also has Family Rooms in Memorial University Medical Center and St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital that provide laundry facilities, showers and a full-service kitchen complete with snacks and ready meals, among other services.

Members of the Savannah Maritime Association have raised money for the RMHC since 2013 through Savannah Maritime After Hours networking events, held on the first Wednesday of each month. 

“The service the Ronald McDonald House provides to these families with children in the hospital is so needed and the support its staff provides, especially during this holiday season, is more important now than ever," said Jed Young of Port City Logistics. “We thank our Maritime members, who have demonstrated steadfast support of the House's mission and make this gift possible year after year."

Ben Goldberg of JIT Warehousing and Logistics, Larry Hearn of Savannah River Logistics and Jed Young of Port City Logistics presented the check to Bill Sorochak, executive director of the Ronald McDonald House.
