Board Approves Millage Rate Reduction

At the June 2, 2021 Board meeting, the Board gave Tentative Approval of the Recommended Tax Millage Levy of 18.131 mills for the support and maintenance of public education in Chatham County. This represents a .75 mill reduction. The proposed millage rate for Maintenance and Operations is in compliance with the rollback rate calculated by the Tax Assessor as required by O. C.G.A. 48-5-32.1, and as such will not be required to be advertised as a tax increase above the rollback millage rate.
Savannah-Chatham County Public School System continues to have one of the lowest total millage rates of any of the comparable sized school districts in Georgia. The top ten largest school districts in Georgia are listed below (Included M&O Bond).
