Georgia Power Employees Clean up Effingham County Roads in Local Volunteer Project

Georgia Power employees and their families from the Savannah area recently partnered with the Environmental Compliance department for a cleanup of Effingham County roads and company property. By working together, employees were able to collect several bags of trash and debris from the surrounding areas.
“Taking care of our community and our environment is an important component in maintaining the safety and compliance of our day to day operation” said Lonnie Shaw, Georgia Power employee and volunteer chapter president.
With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power - the employee volunteer arm of the company – gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
