700 Kitchen Cooking School at Mansion on Forsyth Park Offers Delicious New Summer and Fall 2021

The Mansion on Forsyth Park’s 700 Kitchen Cooking School – an intimate, elegant culinary experience located at 700 Drayton St. in Savannah, Ga. –  will offer local residents and visitors a range of new themed culinary classes throughout summer and fall 2021, in addition to popular ongoing cooking classes.

Led by master-inspired culinary artist Chef Jason Winn, these interactive Tripadvisor 2020 Travelers’ Choice award-winning cooking classes invite guests to learn new skills, gain confidence in the kitchen and travel the world through inspired menus.

“We’re delighted to continue to expand our class offerings and to showcase dishes from Southeast Asia, South America and the Caribbean islands for cooks of all skill levels to enjoy, in addition to an exciting new plant-based cooking class,” said 700 Kitchen Cooking School’s Chef Jason Winn. “Over the past several months, enrollment in our interactive cooking classes has skyrocketed. We wanted to develop a selection of compelling new classes to meet the varied interests of our guests.”

Classes at the 700 Kitchen Cooking School are all-inclusive, providing guests with the necessary ingredients, equipment and guidance to prepare, sample and enjoy delicious dishes.

New class offerings include:

Explore the bold flavors and rich palates of Southeast Asia. This interactive class doubles as a culinary tour and invites guests to recreate some of the region’s most fragrant and sumptuous dishes. Class menu items include Shoya Ramen, Chinese Pork Dumplings, Korean Bibimbap, Vietnamese Basil Rolls and Thai-Style Chicken with Massaman Curry.

Experience the incomparably delicious taste of freshly made pasta. At this workshop, which is designed to celebrate fresh pasta, guests will learn the fundamentals of noodle and filled pasta-making as well as several foundational sauces. Menu items include Ravioli Quattro Formaggi, Tortellini, Potato Gnocchi with Sausage Ragu as well as Fettuccine with Basil Pesto served with salad and dessert.

Travel south of the border and discover a variety of South American epicurean delights. In this cultural cooking class, guests will use fresh ingredients to craft a series of authentic dishes. Class menu items include Peruvian Ceviche, Argentinian Empanadas Salteñas, Brazilian Feijoada, Venezuelan Arepas Con Queso as well as Alfajores.

Learn how to create flavorful vegan and vegetarian dishes in this interactive class. Guests will master the basics of plant-based cuisine and enjoy menu items including Vegan Caesar Salad, General Tso’s Tofu, Falafel with Vegan Tzatziki, Jamaican Jackfruit Curry with Coconut Rice as well as Vegan Key Lime Pie with Whipped Coconut Cream.

Taste the flavors of the islands in this geographically focused class, which invites guests to learn the techniques used to prepare some of the Caribbean’s most iconic and colorful dishes. The class menu items include Jamaican Beef Patties, Cuban Fricasé De Pollo, Belizean Ceviche, Puerto Rican Tostones and Quesillo.

Face off against pairs of home cooks in the 700 Kitchen Cooking School’s state-of-the-art kitchen. Competitors will attend a class on knife skills, safety, sanitation and basic cooking techniques before the hors d’oeuvres battle commences. The timed competition will challenge each team to prepare three appetizer items with mystery basket ingredients. Kessler house wines, salad and dessert will be provided.

In addition to these new offerings, the 700 Kitchen Cooking School regularly hosts a wide variety of ongoing classes year-round. Highlights include Date Night classes, Ladies Night  classes and the popular Farmer’s Market Tour, where guests select locally grown produce at the Forsyth Park Farmers' Market and cook a farm-to-table brunch. Southern-style cooking takes center stage in the ongoing Savannah Champagne Brunch, Low Country Staples and The Southern Table classes.
