Coastal Custom Mortgage, Inc. Has Transitioned From Broker To Lender

Monday, July 26th, 2021

In just two short years, Coastal Custom Mortgage, Inc. (NMLSR# 1828852) has transitioned from mortgage broker to a certified non delegated correspondent lender. As a result, the company is now the largest locally owned mortgage lender in Savannah (SOURCE- MLS Multi Listing Service). This is big news for the community, because nearly all other mortgage lenders are headquartered elsewhere.

“Being a local lender is important because we are able to make decisions right here in our office instead of relying on an answer from a corporate office out of state,” said Padraic Robertson, President of Coastal Custom Mortgage. “With local decision making, we can quickly and efficiently take care of our clients and, in turn, our referral partners.”

There’s another reason why being local is important. Robertson noted that “As we grow and stretch further up and down the coast, Savannah is going to be the hub, so we’re very focused on putting the money back into our community.” A Savannah native, Robertson also has residential mortgage licenses in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Sarah Arcanti, Senior Loan Officer at Coastal Custom Mortgage, said that “a lot of real estate agents refer to us because they like the fact that we have local autonomy. We will still retain the ability to offer the same variety of products and solutions for clients as we did before, but with this operating change, we are significantly increasing that autonomy.”

Robertson also explained that the transition from a broker model into a non-delegated correspondent lender means that the company is able to fund its own loans. “Funding the loans ourselves allows us to have more control over the entire loan process, and to provide that level of customer service which only comes from doing business with a locally owned company.”
