Hinesville Unemployment Rate at All-Time Low in July

Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler said Thursday that Hinesville registered an all-time low unemployment rate in July as the number of employed rose almost 300.
"We are seeing positive labor market data across the state,” said Commissioner Butler. “The unemployment rate is down in every region, county, and metropolitan statistical area reflecting the strength of our state’s economy. Career opportunities remain high for job seekers as we continue to see rising jobs numbers in metro and rural areas throughout Georgia.”
In Hinesville, the unemployment rate was down one and three-tenths percentage points to 2.9 percent over the month, an all-time low for the area. A year ago, the rate was 6.8 percent.
The labor force decreased in Hinesville by 150 and ended the month with 34,318. That number is up 1,175 when compared to July of 2020.
Hinesville finished the month with 33,309 employed residents. That number increased by 294 over the month and is up by 2,404 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Hinesville ended July with 20,600 jobs. That number is up 500 when compared to this time last year.
The number of unemployment claims went down by 48 percent in Hinesville in July. When compared to last July, claims were down by about 88 percent.
Employ Georgia, the GDOL’s online job listing service at employgeorgia.com showed about 419 active job postings in Hinesville for July.
