Bryan County has announced the hiring of three new employees – Cory Laubar as the assistant director of Public Works, Matt Bell as the fleet maintenance superintendent, and Cody Adams as the stormwater maintenance supervisor.

Cory Lauber will assist Matt Montanye, the county’s Public Works director, in overseeing the projects that go on within the county. Before accepting this position, Lauber held a position with the Chatham County Public Works Department as the assistant maintenance superintendent. There, Lauber managed the day-today operations of the stormwater maintenance division as well as assisted in installments of stormwater systems.

As the fleet maintenance superintendent, Matt Bell will be responsible for effective supervision and administration of the vehicle and equipment repair shop including authorizing significant purchasing and financial transactions, staff organization and development within the fleet. Bell has experience managing a fleet with his previous position at Waste Management as a fleet supervisor. There, Bell was responsible for overseeing the fleet and all facets of routine deliveries while meeting DOT requirements.

Cody Adams will be responsible for supervising the maintenance of all stormwater projects in Bryan County. Adams is known as being a dependable supervisor with nine years of experience in the public works sector, specifically in landscaping, tree care, and stormwater management within Chatham County and Tybee Island. Adams is equipped in directing most phases of public works activities including landscape installation, chemical application, right of way and park maintenance, playground maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance, safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and others. 

“We are fortunate to have the qualifications and experience that this group possesses to join the county’s staff,” Bryan County Administrator Ben Taylor said. “Their work history, training, and leadership have equipped them to assist Matt Montayne and our Public Works Department well into the future, and we congratulate them on their well-deserved appointments.”
