More than 2 dozen employees from The Greenery, Inc. and their families volunteered on the morning of September 11 to install sod, plantings and mulching at Operation Patriots FOB (OPFOB) retreat in Ridgeland, SC.

The group of volunteers worked alongside OPFOB’s volunteer group to enhance the property with beautiful landscaping for their non-profit retreat facility for combat veterans. The Greenery provided labor and volunteer support, including planting sod and plants, plus mulching. At 8:45am the work ceased to observe a moment of silence in remembrance of 9/11 at the flagpole.

OPFOB operates on a 268-acre recreational property in Ridgeland where combat Veterans and their families are invited to participate in recreational peer-to-peer experiences creating a brighter outlook on their future. The organization believes that every Combat Veteran has a purpose beyond their call of duty and they are committed to helping them discover it.

The “sprucing up” occurred to help OPFOB prepare for their benefit concert on October 8 that will raise money for the organization. In October, The Greenery will return to OPFOB to install 10 large memorial Live Oak trees.

The Greenery is thankful for the support of Tony Nimmer of Nimmer Turf for the donation of all the sod materials. In addition, Witmer Jones Keefer, Ltd. provided the landscaping plans.

Each year, The Greenery seeks a project to “Give Back” to the communities they serve. It’s part of their commitment as an employee owned company and to their community. Previous projects have been completed in Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort.
