John Burke, who Loved Bringing the Outdoors to Savannah in Weekly Column, Dies at 91

uch of Savannah has grown up reading John Burke, a "cub reporter" in 1957 but best known as the longtime outdoors columnist for the Savannah Morning News until his retirement in 2020.
Some locals also have fished or hunted with him, others have joined him in road races and for rounds of golf. He would sit still long enough to be involved in numerous community organizations, particularly those related to his Irish heritage and Catholic faith.
