47th Annual 8th Air Force Historical Society Reunion

Friday, October 29th, 2021

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is hosting the 47th Annual 8th Air Force Historical Society Reunion on Friday, October 29th. One of the many programs will be the demonstration of the Norden Bombsight which guided B17s to their precise targets. This bombsight has been restored by Dr. Tim Moore. Dr. Moore will have Dr. Martin Raber, a World War II B17 Bombardier, with him during the demonstrations. Dr. Raber flew with the 91st Bomb Group and credits the Norden Bombsight to allow for precision bombing raids on the Nazi war machine. The first demonstrations take place under our B17 “The City of Savannah” beginning at 10:00AM and will continue throughout the day.

There will also be a “Veterans Round Table” with World War II veterans of the Mighty Eighth. This will be in the Lew Lyle Rotunda at 3:00PM.

Other programs during the reunion will include World War II re-enactors, a display of the Tuskegee Airmen, the Eighth Air Force during the Cold War and much more.

All programs and events are free with museum admission.
