Leopold’s Ice Cream Owner Stratton Leopold will unveil a new “Sweet Savannah Pearl” Sundae at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, at Leopold’s Ice Cream at 212 E. Broughton St. The new sweet treat is Leopold’s entry this year into the United Way of the Coastal Empire’s “Always United Challenge.”

Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and 2021 United Way of the Coastal Empire Campaign Chair Cecilia Russo Turner will be in attendance at the shop in downtown Savannah to reveal the limited-edition sundae. 

“I wanted to tie in this special sundae to this year’s campaign theme, ‘no grit, no pearl,” said Leopold. “Giving back to the community is important to our business and United Way allows us to reach so many people in need.”

Proceeds from the sales of the sundaes will benefit United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Campaign, which serves Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty Counties.  

The Always United Challenge is a creative way for businesses and customers to give back to United Way to help improve lives. Leopold inspired the start of the “Always United Challenge” in 2020 with the creation of a new ice cream flavor benefiting United Way. He is taking it a step further this year with a sundae.

“I encourage other local business owners to get involved and support this crucial fundraising campaign that serves our community in so many ways,” Leopold said. “We hope other businesses rise to the challenge to help!”
