During the weekend of October 23rd, Boy Scouts of America Coastal Georgia Council welcomed over 1,200 scouts and families to their annual Haunted Trail event. This is Coastal Georgia Council’s largest weekend event of the year and gives families the chance to get out in the woods, share a meal around the campfire and get in the Halloween spirit. The event is held at Black Creek Scout Reservation in Sylvania, Georgia.

During the day, Scouts participated in a variety of activities: shooting sports, rock climbing, and carnival games (such as the ring toss, balloon pop, ladder toss and more). Once the sun went down, the focus turned to one of two trails. The first was a haunted trail, where Scouts walked through a path in the woods and encountered haunted scenes set up by older scouts and their families. Spiders, gravestones, and skeletons lined the trail and added to the terror. For those not ready for a scare, the second “not so haunted” trail focused more on candy than fright. Throughout the weekend, scouts also participated in a variety of other activities including scarecrow and campsite decorating contests.
