Telfair Museums Accepting Exhibition Entries from Savannah-area Artists

Wednesday, November 10th, 2021

Telfair Museums is encouraging local artists in Chatham County to submit proposals for its seventh annual Boxed In/Break Out public art exhibition.

Beginning now through Friday, January 7, 2022, Telfair is accepting proposals for its annual museum-sponsored public art installation at the Jepson Center. The installation will feature six windows of the Jepson Center that face Barnard Street and will be on view from April 29, 2022-April 2023.

Proposals must include a detailed plan for how to utilize all six windows in a cohesive manner and will be judged based on the following criteria: originality, feasibility, visual appeal, resourcefulness, and sustainability. The winning artist will participate in a forum with Telfair Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art Erin Dunn and will receive a $1,000 honorarium.

“Telfair Museums is pleased to once again offer the opportunity for a local artist to have their work featured in the windows along Barnard Street,” Dunn said. “Each year, the winning proposal offers something new and exciting, and I look forward to sharing the next project with Savannah visitors.”

Boxed In/Break Out is part of Telfair’s #art912 initiative, which is dedicated to raising the visibility and promoting the vitality of artists living and working in Savannah.
