SCAD Donates Gifts to Union Mission
Tuesday, December 14th, 2021
SCAD president and founder Paula Wallace said, “The holidays are here, and that means it’s time to spread holiday cheer! Once again, it is our honor to partner with Union Mission Savannah and spread love, joy, and laughter with children and families who are in need this season. Over the years, our Bees have donated gifts, helped Santa fill stockings, and made wishes come true — and we can’t wait to do it again this year. I look forward to helping make the holidays special for everyone, and I wish you and yours a season of blessings and happiness.”
This year the SCAD community also decorated a room at Union Mission for the parents to come and pick out the toys and other gifts for their children to receive on Christmas. The cheerful holiday decorations include ten Christmas trees, a snow machine, and much more.
“The contributions made by SCAD truly make for a brighter holiday for the families served by Union Mission,” said Michael Traynor, Union Mission President and CEO. “SCAD has donated toys and gifts for 27 years and the joy brought to our families is tremendous.”
The annual toy donation event is one of many examples of how SCAD students, faculty, and staff have contributed to helping improve the quality of life for the Savannah community. This year SCAD SERVE has donated hundreds of boxes of food to Sustainable Fellwood residents, provided summer lunches for thousands of children throughout Chatham County, gifted tens of thousands of art supplies to Savannah-Chatham County Public School System art classes, and donated thousands of essential items to nonprofits such as Union Mission, P.A.C.K., and Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless.
