The Current, Coastal Georgia’s only in-depth investigative news source, announced that it has received a $50,000 grant from the Inasmuch Foundation, an entity committed to supporting ethics and excellence in journalism.
 
The Current was one of 16 nonprofit journalism organizations selected to receive $1.4 million in funding during the foundation’s fall 2021 grant cycle.
 
“We are pleased to accept this generous grant from the Inasmuch Foundation, which supports organizations through general operating grants,” said Margaret Coker, editor in chief of The Current. “This much needed funding will help us continue our mission of providing original, in-depth journalism for Coastal Georgia.”
 
In its announcement, the Inasmuch Foundation said, “Our team is inspired by collaboration and partnerships formed across sectors. While the effects of the pandemic continue to linger, our grantees display steadfast determination to meet the unique challenges within our community.”
