Monday, February 7th, 2022
Building on many years of support, Seimitsu will further their commitment to peacebuilding and conflict resolution as the top Velvet Sponsor of the 5th Annual Velvet Gala supporting the Mediation Center’s 35th anniversary. The Velvet Gala celebrates the work of the Mediation Center and its volunteers and supporters while raising funds for their conflict-resolution education, prevention, and resolution services. Velvet Gala is a sold out event and will be held at Soho South Events, on Thursday, February 10, 2022.
Seimitsu is a long-time supporter of the Mediation Center and received the first “Business Partner of the Year” award from them in 2018. Seimitsu is a local family-owned business technology company under the leadership of Cindy and Sam Cook. Supporting the community is a priority to the company, evidenced by their work with many local non-profits. Their support for the Mediation Center is driven by a commitment to peace building and conflict resolution, the focus of the Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire’s programs. Seimitsu President and CEO Sam Cook emphasizes, “Seimitsu's work is about improving communication. In our community, the Mediation Center leads the way in fostering communication amongst youth, families, and citizens. They are making our community safer and stronger for today and into the future.”
In its fifth year, Velvet Gala highlights the Mediation Center’s commitment to creating a conflict-resilient community with the theme “Transforming Lives One Conversation at a Time”. Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Peer Mediators will be in attendance to share how being trained to mediate conflict among their peers as impacted their lives. Special recognition will be given to former Executive Directors Wendy Williamson and Connie Ward. Attendees enjoy the opportunity to learn more about the Mediation Center’s youth programs, Family Law Resource Center, mediation services, and peacebuilding initiatives. Annual awards are presented at the event to individuals and organizations that further the mission of the Mediation Center. Attendees also enjoy a silent auction to help raise funds for the community programs.
